Having recently returned to Bristol, Chloe saw an opportunity to volunteer with us at The Colour Fun Run through an online advert and wanted to get involved…
“While I was at university I didn’t get involved in too many volunteering opportunities; I was constantly occupied with my studies. Once I had graduated and began looking for permanent jobs, I wanted to keep myself as busy as possible and started looking out for volunteer roles.
I’ve always had an interest in events, having been part of some student led festivals, so when I saw The Colour Fun Run advertising for help I was excited to go along and get involved. I had heard of See Change but wanted to find out more about their work in Bristol. It was a varied day, I helped set out the course early in the morning and then had a post as a course marshal to make sure our runners stuck to the correct route. I had such a great day at the event, meeting lots of new people and getting more experience of the running of an event like this, I’m really looking forward to helping out again with future fundraising days.
Having spent a lot of time in London and Bristol, homelessness is something I’ve always been very aware of and felt more should be done to prevent rough sleeping as being a situation anyone finds themselves in. As a community, if we can support the work that See Change and other homeless prevention charities do, one day we could eradicate homelessness for good.”
If you want to sign up to volunteer at one of our events, or find out what other opportunities are available, please get in touch! Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, gain experience and help continue our work in Bristol and the surrounding area.
