Volunteer Bike Mechanic
As a volunteer bike mechanic at Bike Workshop Bristol you will be working within a growing social enterprise project. The workshop functions as a shop where second hand bikes are refurbished and sold, but also as a place where vulnerable adults come to learn practical skills as part of a route back into employment and an independent life. Donated used bikes are rebuilt and refurbished in the Workshop and servicing and repair of customers’ bikes is also undertaken.
Skills and Qualifications Required
Volunteers wishing to apply for this role must be practical, with a good knowledge of how bikes work. Preferably, you will also have some engineering or mechanical experience. Tasks that volunteers will be expected to undertake include bike strip down, sorting and cleaning frames/parts and eventually full bike refurbishment.

Bike Workshop Bristol is located just off of junction 3 of the M32 and is part of a brand new Knightstone Housing development called J3. The full address is: Bike Workshop Bristol, Junction 3, (No7.) Unit B, Baptist Mills Court, Bristol, BS5 0FJ
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
Volunteers will receive support from Bike Mechanics employed by Julian House, the Bike Workshop Manager and the Julian House Volunteer Coordinator. Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed (to be pre-agreed with Bike Workshop Manager).
Volunteers should be prepared to commit to at least half a day per week. We would prefer this commitment to continue for a minimum of 3 months.
